Pete Black

I am a writer from Monroeville, Alabama, the Literary Capital of Alabama and home of literary giants Nelle Harper Lee and Truman Capote. I am not a giant. But I do love writing true, inspirational, micro stories about ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things. Since 2011, I have written a column Heart Matters in our award winning weekly newspaper, the Monroe Journal.

Over the past six years I have captured hundreds of inspirational moments about people who did the impossible, because despite their situations and circumstances, they refused to lose heart, refused to give up. Great stories happen when someone decides not to quit.

I hope these stories about people just like us will inspire you to chase your dreams, encourage you to tackle all the obstacles on your journey, and help you to never lose heart, because Heart Matters.
