Pete Black is a 1971 graduate of Monroe County High School in Monroeville, Alabama. After earning B.S. degrees in Physical Education (1975) and Civil Engineering (1978) from the University of Alabama, he worked for 33 years in the Pulp & Paper Industry before retiring as Executive Vice President – General Manager from Alabama River Pulp in Monroeville 2010.

Pete has been married to his high school sweetheart, Patsy, for 42 years and they have four adult children – Jonathan 34, Robert, 33, Watson 31, and Anna Katherine 28. They have one granddaughter, Audrey. Patsy is serving in her third term on the Monroe County School Board.
